Work on our new new (accessory dwelling unit) cottage started in February. Weather hasn't been too cooperative for the contractor or his subcontractors. My daughter is the precise interior and exterior painter, my husband is the fabulous fence builder and I'm the gardener, turning our tiny green bit of space into a micro farm. Wood and siding and scraps and shingles are everywhere, not to mention mud and compost. Here are just a few pics. More coming soon. I can't believe it's finally taking shape.
The cottage is complete - except for final touches. It's better than we ever expected. New photos are below chronically our 6-month journey.
About the Images
This is a journey in saving and spending, hope and hard work, numereous hurdles, aching muscles, dreams, tears, goals and sharing.
Hope to see you here when the cottage is approved for rental.
More Information:
We made environmentally conscious choices in the guest cottage construction and furnishings: bamboo and marmoleum flooring, hardwood cabinets, voc free paint, Eco by Cosentino countertops, a beautiful queen-sized futon made in Portland by Rock Soft Futon, and solid wood refurbished and re-used furnishing and decor.
The cottage offers guests a gratis homemade breakfast, the free use of two bicyles, WiFi, TV with cable access, full kitchen, bath with tub, a private entry and off street parking. It's bright, sunny, clean and cozy.
